The History of Backgammon

Backgammon is a board game that has been enjoyed for thousands of years. Its origins can be traced back to ancient Mesopotamia, where it was played by the Sumerians as early as 5,000 years ago. Over time, the game spread to other parts of the world, and similar versions were played in ancient Egypt, Greece, and Rome.

In the 19th and 20th centuries, modern backgammon boards and pieces were developed, and the game was standardized with a set of rules that are still used today. It remains a popular pastime and is played in homes, hotels and alike.

Our goal in making our travel backgammon boards is to create more accessibility to the game. Whether it’s in flight, at a brewery, bar, hotel, pool the beach, or you name it, say goodbye to having to lug around a briefcase board or full size playing field. Fitting in your purse or even back pocket, it’s as functional as it is a luxury accessory.
